I read the story about the new mayor of London. His name is Boris Johnson. Johnson is a member of the Conservative Party. He was elected earlier this year to replace former mayor, Ken Livingstone. Livingstone did much to bring the 2012 Olympic games to London and helped pass new laws to reduce traffic in the city. Despite that, Boris Johnson was elected because of his promises to be tough on crime and to bring diverse people together. Outside of politics, Johnson is best known for saying silly and inappropriate things. For example, many people were upset when he suggested that Papua New Guinea is known for its cannibalism. Many agree that Boris Johnson will continue to be a controversial figure in politics.
